Our Story
Face and Junk started in a kitchen with one problem: grooming products that were either garbage or pretentious. We fixed that.
Why We Exist
"Most men's grooming products are either overpriced nonsense or cheap garbage. We built the thing in the middle."
— Thomas Fortenberry - Face and Junk
How It Started
In 2012, Thomas was done. Done with body washes that smelled like a hotel lobby. Done with "premium" grooming brands that charged $35 for a product that was 90% water and marketing. Done with the assumption that men either don't care about what they put on their bodies or will pay anything to feel like they do.
He started making soap. Cedar and black pepper. Shea butter base. Activated charcoal for the guys who actually work with their hands. He gave bars to friends. Friends told friends. A men's store put them on its counter and sold out in three days.
Face and Junk was never a business plan. It was a solution to a problem that turned out to be a lot of guys' problem.
What We Stand For
No filler. No mystery chemicals. Every formula starts with ingredients that actually do something. If it's in our bottles or bars, it earns its place.
We don't make products by the truckload. Small batches mean tighter quality control, fresher product, and the ability to actually give a damn about what goes out the door.
We won't tell you our soap will change your life. It will clean your body, smell great, and leave your skin better than it found it. That's the deal. We keep it.
Not for the guy who has a 14-step routine. For the guy who wants to look and feel good without spending 45 minutes in the bathroom. Effective, fast, no fuss.
What's Inside
Every ingredient in every Face and Junk product is there because it does something. Deep moisturizers for real hydration. Lightweight conditioning oils that soften without leaving you slick. Purifying agents that pull the gunk out of pores. Gentle proteins and botanicals that calm skin and stop the itch. Emulsifiers and humectants that make the formula work together, not fight each other. A rugged, restrained scent that says you showered, not that you’re auditioning for a cologne ad.
We don’t use stripping detergents that turn your skin into sandpaper. We don’t use synthetic perfume bombs that make your face flare up. We don’t water down formulas and slap a premium price on them.
If you can't pronounce it and it doesn't need to be there, it's not in our products.
The Journey
Our founder Thomas was done with overpriced, department-store body bars that smelled like a candle aisle and cost more than dinner. So he did what any reasonable man would do: he started making his own in his kitchen.
Cedar & Black Pepper Body Bar — 50 bars, zero marketing, one very enthusiastic men's store owner. Sold out in a week to friends, coworkers, and anyone who appreciated a bar that actually worked.
We added nine new masculine scents and kept the formula simple: natural ingredients, rugged scents, no nonsense. People noticed. Word spread. The line expanded because the product earned it, not because of hype.
Covid forced a pause and gave us time to sharpen the brand. New name, new logo, new packaging — same stubborn commitment to quality. We used the downtime to perfect formulas and rethink how we present a man's grooming essentials.
We relaunched with a full, focused lineup: masculine body bars, ball wash, beard and 'stache care, and head-to-toe skin and hair products. Still small batch. Still straightforward. Still no BS.
Thousands of guys use Face and Junk every day. We're still formulating, still improving, and still refusing to put garbage in our products. Small batches, honest ingredients, and products that do what they say — that's the plan, and we're sticking to it.
